ACTIONABLE KEYNOTES BUILT STRAIGHT FROM THE RESEARCH

Limitless

Bringing everything we are to everything we do.

Customizable, in person and virtual.

This keynote Based on Laura’s Washington Post bestseller, Limitless, named by Robin Roberts as one of Good Morning America’s Favorite Books of the Year, this keynote is perfect for audiences who are ready to push past limiting beliefs and achieve more than they ever thought possible.

Each one of us was handed a scorecard of success at some point – by a parent, a teacher, a celebrity – maybe even before we can remember getting it… and it shaped who we are and what we think we can become. But what if their scorecard isn’t your scorecard, and what if you’ve been busy trying to fill in that myopic, singular, externally defined scorecard of success, only to find that even when the scorecard is full, you still feel empty? (Spoiler Alert: this is why only 23% of people say they feel engaged in their work.)

You can’t be INSATIABLY HUNGRY for someone else's goals.

Laura spent 20 years leading executive searches, helping thousands of people navigate their most vulnerable moment of career shift and life disruption. Along the way, she discovered that the people who were the most successful, the most fulfilled, and the most profitable and productive for their companies weren’t those who simply hustled harder, but those who knew how to connect their work to what really mattered to them.

A kick in the ass wrapped in a warm hug, Laura teaches your audiences how to ignore the limiting beliefs that created their ceilings, remove the lies we tell ourselves that trap us in our past and find meaning in bigger, more profitable, and sustainable goals.

The Research

Behind the talk is seven years of data.

Only 23% of employees are engaged at work. It isn't the job. It's the scorecard they were handed, and the fact that nobody ever asked whether it was theirs.

Limitless isn't a motivational theory. It's built on a seven-year study of nearly 10,000 people across 113 countries, mapping what makes work meaningful and the four C's that predict who thrives.

  • Want work that inspires them

    0%
  • Have a leader who delivers it

    0%
$T
lost to disengagement every year (~9% of global GDP)
%
are actually engaged at work
%
rank pay as the most important thing. The other 63% don't.
%
value relevance over power
%
would work harder if it mattered more

The key factors that predict who thrives at work.

About Laura

Hey, I'm LGO.

I'm a researcher, a former executive recruiter, and a Wall Street Journal bestselling author. My work names the patterns that predict potential, in ourselves, in our teams, and in the people who matter to us most.

For thirty years I've advised leaders from the corner office to the Oval Office. For fifteen of them I ran a retained executive search firm, which meant I was paid to read what past performance was hiding and to see it before anyone else did. I was good at it. I could never explain how. That question is what I study now. (Currently working on my doctorate, finding out whether the instinct I spent two decades trusting holds up under actual scrutiny.)

You may also know me from Good Morning America, Access Hollywood, and NBC News, from Harvard Business Review, Forbes, and HR Magazine, or from my talk on why success doesn't feel the way it should, which has more than three million views on TED.com.
