Whenever anyone tells me, “I’m too busy,” I hear them say, “It’s simply not that important to me.”

I’m not going to tell you all the things that I accomplish on a daily basis, or all the balls I juggle constantly and with varying amounts of grace and poise. I’m not going to give you that trite pep talk about how I do so much, so you can do. Every single person who does battle in the Busy Cage Match loses, especially if they win. What I am going to tell you is this: we all prioritize and, therefore, make time for what matters to us.

Don’t have time to go back to school? You haven’t yet really figured out what you are going to do with the degree once earned.

Don’t have time to volunteer for that cause you love? It doesn’t really matter to you that much.

Don’t have time to train for that marathon? You aren’t serious about it.

Don’t have time to call/text someone back? You’re just not that into them.

That’s harsh, I know. But, it’s time to be honest with ourselves about what is and isn’t holding us back from our articulated goals. We can make all the excuses we want to make, but the truth is that when you find yourself running towards future you instead of running away from current status quo, you will miraculously find the time to make your life what you’d like it to be.
