The Banana Bread of Exhaustion

This is not your usual banana bread.

It’s also not even a good banana bread.

It’s the banana bread of exhaustion.

Sure, it looks pretty from the outside. But on the inside it has an extra half cup of flour. And in addition to its usual teaspoon of baking powder, it also has a teaspoon of baking soda.

It took on too much and rose to great heights. On the outside.

The Banana Bread of Exhaustion

On the inside, it’s not okay.

I made it on Saturday, after a fit of cleaning out the fridge and freezer and realizing that we had too much sour cream and too many old frozen bananas. Why not make some banana bread? I can’t do it all, right?

But I can’t. I’m tired. I’m emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically, metaphysically tired.

This books launch took a lot out of me. And it worked. And I’m never going to complain about the problems I worked my ass off to have.

But I’m tired in ways I’ve never been before, in ways I don’t fully realize until I want the banana bread reaching, reaching, reaching higher and worrying that she might explode.

Maybe you’ve been there too?

Maybe you are going, going, going and not realizing the ramifications on your mind and your body?

Maybe you are rising, rising, rising and not understanding the future damage you are accruing? Maybe you are striving, striving, striving and not absorbing the fact that the bill comes due. But here's what I know to be true: The bill always comes due.

Maybe you're fantasizing about just not getting out of bed all weekend this coming weekend?

Because, if you are, I have an (actually good) banana bread recipe for you to try.

Go for it.
Crush it.
Lean in.

Do all the things!

Just schedule some time for yourself on the backend. And, make that other banana bread next weekend, ok?

Trust me. It’s good. And so are you.
